Good for beginners and families

Donner Ski Ranch is geared towards families and its facilities and programs reflect that. The ski school is really great - we've had consistently great instructors. All of them have been patient and used to dealing with kids. The facilities are a little tired and certainly not as plush as those at the larger resorts around, which can be somewhat painful for any parents who are not skiing and just hanging around the lodge. The runs are basic and an intermediate skiier can run out of things to do within a day. But that's OK, since most of the adults are skiing with kids and this is a great resort for that.
