Loved the location in an old part of town. In a nice quiet laneway. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Double en Suite room we had was excellent value for money too. Will use Kinlay Cork again if I get back to Cork - a great little city!!!

We didn't find anything that was OK. The room looked like a jail. The bathrooms were dirty or broken (and nobody told us ). The light was poor. And the staff was distant. We spent two weeks arround Ireland and we loved it all. Except Cork and aspecialy Kinlay House. What a dump.

Would happily return...

I liked Kinlay House. It's location is very good. We stayed in an en Suite Private and it is as good as a Hotel or B&B I feel. Handy that you get a free breakfast. Liked the little garden at the back and the big Sycamore Tree out the front. The Graffitti is also interesting on steps up to hostel. Only problem we found is that they don't have enough en Suite privates really!! Good staff

State of the shower/bathroom
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/06
Should have seen the state of the bathroom/shower toilets totally grose. Other that that fine staff were nice and the room fine for the price
Well first I should say that we left early also because Cork was so dissappointing, but we had no desire to stay in Kinlay Hostel for a second night. Although we booked online, when we arrived they asked us to pay again. Luckily, we avoided being charged twice. Then we were told where our room was- although we paid the rate for a private double ...

What a disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/06
We were welcomed by a condesencing receptionist who you'd swear we were putting out just by being there.
Later, discovered that the bathrooms were not clean (and not properly stocked with TP), the breakfast was awful (again, not one could be bothered to restock on items). Discovered security was slack to say the least with no one even ...

Loved Kinlay House - Cork. Great Location - old part of town. Rang the Shandon Bells next door too!
Staff really helpful and friendly. Nice walled in (kinda) garden at back. Free Breakfast.

Great Hostel

I found the service to be excellent. Great location - very central. Cheap too.
Breakfast is included and they have Internet access. Loved the old building - lots of plants and cool posters on the walls.
Look forward to returning when next in the Capital of Culture!!
