Hotel: Looking at this hotel from the outside exudes the age and necessary improvements needed in the near future in order to compete with the Hilton next door. Walking into the hotel is very inviting and pleasant. The people behind the registration desk were friendly and accommodating. I can say the same thing about the people at the bell desk. ...

THis place was awesome, really close to the beach, and shopping centers, fast food, and more. I cannot imagine a better location for the Illikai. Also, the beds were the best I have ever slept in.

Beautiful Place to Stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/29/06
Staff was really pleasant and helpful. The consierge desk was really helpful with booking tours. (I would recommend goingn through this hotel or directly through what tour you want) You'll save money! Oudoor lobby and pool was beautiful and interior of building was nice. Short walk to the beach and Hilton Hawaiian Village is next door. Alot ...
I stay in a lot of Renaissance Hotels. This is certainly not the cream of the crop.
The pools are very small and the outdoor bar closes at 930. The rooms are run down and the overall condition of the place is fair at best.
The location is convienient.

This is a hotel with great facilities. It is by Waikiki beach and next to the Waikiki Hilton village which everyone should visit. It is great with the Hawaii Ueno Medical Clinic at Lobby Level run by John Magauran MD.

Nice place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/05
I recently stayed at the Illikai. I thought the service was great. The restaraunt at the top of the hotel has breathtaking views, and it's reasonably priced.
The two downsides that I saw were that it's a bit of a walk to Waikiki beach. You're pretty close to the water, but you have to walk around a small lagoon to get to where ...

Great place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/05
We stayed at the Ilikai when we first moved to Hawaii. We fell in love with the oceanfront view. The Ilikai has a great location right on Waikiki beach.
Every night at 6:00 they blow the conch shell and Hawaiian guys run around wearing native Hawaiian attire and light all of the torches. The kids loved to watch. Also almost every evening they had live entertainment by the pool. We enjoyed the Hawaiian music and the dancing.
Moved here last month and the company put us up in the Ilikai for a week. Nice hotel, but arrived from Japan at 7am and the staff would not check us in until 3pm!!! So, with family in tow, we went to the flea market at the stadium until 1pm - totally tired back at the hotel but no help from the staff. (we fell asleep on the lobby couch!)

It's the hotel where, during the beginning credits of Hawaii 5-O, Steve McGarrett is standing. That's all you need to know.

Longing to return

I stayed because of the Hawaii Ueno Medical Clinic. My wife needed a doctor close by and I received the best attention.
