The Nordica is clean, comfortable, and well managed. It was by far the best hotel I stayed in when visiting Iceland. Staff was frienndly and helpful (but then, so are most people you will meet in Iceland). They serve a great breakfast buffet! Hotels outside Reykjavik tend to be spartan, so if you plan to move around treat yourself to some creature comfort while you can.
We stayed at the Nordica for a week in Autumn of 2004. The location is great, within walking distance of a couple decent restaurants, a couple of convenience stores and a grocery store (more on this later). It's also a long but doable walk downtown. Nice hotel, a little expensive though. Extremely clean and rooms have a good view of the city. Has a good location in walking distance to many great restaurants and shops. Bathrooms are quite spacious and the beds are very comfortable. I liked it that they had hardwood floors because most hotels seem to have carpet which aggravates my sinuses. ...

Totally newly remodeled, the inside of the Nordica is a surprise of pleasant simplistic style. Our room overlooked the back lot and office buildings but it was not an unpleasant view. The hotel is located within walking distance of the downtown area, if you like to walk. The lobby and staff in the lobby are equally well designed with efficiency and professional style.
