Very helpful front desk. We were able to check in early (1pm). We had a corner room, with a fabulous view! We had lunch at J's. Hubby says it is the BEST lobster he had the whole east coast trip. Hung out at the hotel bar...the Executive Chef was very personable and entertaining. We would definitely stay here again.
As like one reviewer, it was 5:00 pm and we were tired and looking for a place to stay. The Hilton was the first hotel we came upon and decided we would stay because we were so tired. My first thought was PRICE GOUGING!!! We had too pay $309.00 for the room and I just thought it was gouging because they probably would not have rented the room ...

Best Hotel in Portland
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/01/08
Our family loved our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Portland. It is located right across the street from the ferry terminal and a working waterfront so it is fun to watch all the activity on the water.
It is also within easy walking distance to many great stores, restaurants and museums. This is located in the historic old port section of town and is really cool. Overall we loved our stay!

Great Place To Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/07
Great location - walking distance to most of Old Port - with great accomodations. One of the cleanest hotels I've stayed in. Spacious, quiet room with very comfy beds. Enjoyed the quiet nature of the bar - Greg was a great bartender and helped numerous times in recommending sites and places to eat. Disappointed in the $ 13/day parking charge but would stay there again. Highly recommend.
My husband and I were most excited about the fact that we only had to spend one night at the Hilton Garden Inn. The location was worse than the Bowery! The pool looked like something from a comic book along with the malfunctioning jacuzzi. How unpleasant to sit in a broken jacuzzi next to a comic book pool and watch homeless bums walk by!!!Also there was no restaurant or bar with the least bit of taste or class.
The hotel room was very clean and the service was very good. The hotel van picked me up from the airport and dropped me off too. Very courteous people. Loved the snack room which had snacks 24/7. Location right in downtown Portland Maine to all walkable sites.
THE POOL COULD HAVE BEEN BIGGER. VERY SMALL.

Wedding Party Thanks

The hotel staff provided wonderful service for us during our daughters wedding. We were running around busy with wedding issuses, the staff was more than accomodating. OUr limo was late and they offered van services, extra towels for ht ebridesmaids, we asked and they provided. THe staff stepped up to the plate and offered the most proffessional of ...
The hotel is very nice and convienient. The price is fair for the location and amenities. The rooms were spacious for a Hilton Garden Inn.

Great Location, Wonderful Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/04
Had a terrific extended stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. Great location right on the waterfront and the staff could not have been more accomodating. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and enjoyed a great dinner there, too. The mattresses are a bit soft, but I'm a fussy sleeper and slept like a baby.

HGI Portland
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/04
We didn't plan this trip well--got to Portland at 5 p.m. and took the first hotel we found--which was unfortunately the Hilton Garden Inn. It wasn't "terrible", it just wasn't worth the price. The mattresses were in fact the worst I've ever had, the pool was teeny, the fitness room has only 2 tread mills ...
