Well, first of when you get to the hotel entrance your greeted by a little sitting area across the street. The doormen made you feel so welcome(besides the fact they get paid to greet) and at home. I loved every moment of it, the bartender teddy was great, waitress senait was great. It was close to all the sites. my greatest memory of the mandarin in washington is its home-like style.

I travel frequently to DC for either work or to visit my college daughter, and thought she would like some luxury. We have stayed at the Hay Adams before and it was perfect! Thought she might like this, but was I WRONG!. The place looks nice and is clean, but everything else is wrong, and for the competition, spend those dollars elsewhere. To ...

Wonderful Experience
By jasrake, 01/05/08
Everything about this hotel is absolutely perfect. I came to D.C. for a conference and stayed for a week in November. My experience turned out to be more pleasure than business. The rooms are huge and beautiful. The bathrooms are to die for All staff seemed genuinely happy, were very helpful and extremely polite. The food was the best ...

FIRST CLASS HOTEL
By calalaila, 05/31/07
I have stayed in some of the finest hotels in the world and Mandarin was impeccable. From the minute you arrive when they give you the cold towels to wipe your to the excellent in room dining.
Although it is a little isolated, it's near the Metro and the Potomac river is a stone's throw. We had an incredible view.
I strongly recommend this hotel.

Far Short of First Class

First of all - get out your GPS when trying to find this place which is located on an elevated turnabout spec built to front the hotel. Secondly, dust off your wallet because while the room rate is acceptable (circa $300/night) for an upscale hotel - this rate includes absolutely nothing (internet is $15/day, parking is extra, etc.) and everything ...

Nightmare of a stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/06
Pros: Nice decor, friendly staff.
Cons: Gave us the wrong room, tv had terrible picture, room smelled bad, mistakenly charged us $4000 for a one night stay. This is just a quick sum up, I don't have the energy to write out every frustration this hotel gave me and my fiance. I would have had a better experience at a Motel 6...seriously.

I did not want to leave
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/06
The location of the hotel was great for sightseeing. I had a large room but the view was facing an area under construction. The food was excellent, there was a spa on the premises. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The bathroom was huge! Larger than the average hotel room. Lots of marble, large glass enclosed shower with upgraded fixtures, ...

Try the Spa

Oh my.. this resort is beautiful and scenic. I went to the spa for full body treatments and relaxation. They know how to relax you there! I even had a steak and eggs breakfast while relaxing in the candle light relaxation suite! I enjoyed the huge jazcuzzi and the rainforest shower! Near the White House! Enjoy

3 star service at 5 star prices?
By JP, 01/10/06
You would hardly believe that this is part of the Mandarin Oriental chain. In a recent stay ((Dec 05) , service was very disorganized, with unmade rooms, slow room service, inept valet parking and useless concierge. Caveat emptor until they change the management.

It's a different experience for DC Hotels with a modern and classy feel. Service was great and location near the water offered a great view. Not so close to the attractions like the Willard but good enough and worth it.
Love the variety of asian/traditional cuisine. Highly recommended!
