My husband and son and I have been staying at this motel for a long long time about 10 years and this by far was the worst year ever. And I can guarantee the last time we will stay there. First they put us in the upstairs room which would have been ok but the steps going up are narrow and steep and rotting and falling apart, then the deck and walk ...

Ghosts, Battlefields and cheap lodging?
By vidxs1, 06/22/09
We recently visited Gettysburg and checked into the Colton Motel based on some positive ratings we viewed here that this was a no frills motel but budget priced. I had sticker shock when we checked in however because the room was $ 90+ dollars with taxes. Grant it we didn't have reservations or any discount/group rate- that was just the walk in ...

It's too overpriced for the quality.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/09
What we paid for the rooms were way too overpriced. The bedding smelled of cigarettes, the room above the pool was not safe for anyone to stay in, the deck had loose floor boards, the steps and railing were falling apart, there bees hovering around the stairs preventing anyone from using them, and in the winter it was very icy and dangerous going up and down the stairs.
WELL THE MOTEL WAS GRAET AND WAS A LOT CLEANER THEN WHAT EVERYBODY HAS SAID. THE CHEAPEST PLACE AROUND AND IN WALKING DISTANCE TO ALL THE ATTRACTIONS THAT GETTYSBURG HAS. PARKING COULD BE BETTER BUT IT WAS NOT A PROBLUM WHEN YOU ARE IN WALKING DISTANCE OF ALMOST EVERYTHING AROUND. YOU CAN EVEN GET THE TICKETS FOR EVERYTHING RIGHT AT THE ROOM AND A ...

Bates Motel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/09/09
This was the most disgusting motel room I have ever stayed in! It was VERY dirty & very old! The bathroom was frightening! It may be cheap, but you would be better off sleeping in your car.

Unhappy
By Lisa, 02/16/09
I had read reviews on the internet and that coupled with the fact that it was AAA approved we chose to stay there. We checked out after one nite and went somewhere else. Very dirty. Bed cloths were very stained, floors dirty and the bathroom window was broken. When we turned on the air conditioner debris flew out everywhere. Not pleased at all. It was very dirty.

The Colton is awesome
By windrawann, 09/12/08
Recently we went to Gettysburg and decided to stay at the Colton. Our stay was fabulous. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were immaculately clean.
My father rented a room from a Days Inn nearby, and paid nearly $50 more than we did per night...our room was literally twice the size of his! And I have never seen a regular, ...

Just spent the nite there last nite, and it was very clean. Not fancy but it was nice and homey. Very quiet and they really went out of their way to be helpful there. Wish we could have actually stayed another day or two. Location is awesome and so it the price. Lady in the office was very very nice!!!!

We are going back!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/08
When you travel to Gettysburg, you spend very little time in your motel--mainly, just sleep. I am taking my family back to Colton, because of the friendly young lady who runs the motel and her Irish Hound dog. It is like staying with family. This summer, 2008, I am going with just my Grandson again as part of his birthday present--the BIG 12!! see you there!! Marilynn from Richmond, VA P.S. The COLTON is close to everything in Gettysburg!!
