We've been to Rio Bonito on three separate occasions and have enjoyed it immensely all three times. We stayed in "Samatanga" and while the cabin was rustic, it was clean (needed a little dusting) and comfortable. The location is amazing and the owners are very hospitable. I would return any time to this wonderful little spot in the world!
Please don't let the old-fashioned attributes of this camp ground turn you away. Remember the days of no telephone and businesses who were working hard to get by? This is a small town resort . . . not Barton Creek Country Club Estates. I choose to take my kids here because I want a little warp in my ping pong table, I want a little too much ...

Looking Forward to Our Trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/09
We have been vacationing at Rio Bonito for the past 8 years. We love it. It started off with just our immediate family, but the rest of the family has heard the wonderful stories and each year another family joined in. This year we have all the cabins rented. The cabins are rustic and could use a good cleaning, but it has never been anything ...
This placed needs to burnt down. One would have to go to 3rd world slum to match the filth and rot. There has been no real maintenance on cabin 3 and the lodge. The furniture smelled like an arm pit. The cabinets were dirty. We washed all the dishes prior to using them because the cabinets they, in which they were stored, and the glass on the front ...
If you are trailer trash, this is the place for you. If you possess even an ounce of class, steer clear of this place.
We rented 2 cabins and both were nasty and tilted like they would roll down the hill into the river. One of them stunk terribly. The other was just disgusting. BOTH WERE VERY VERY VERY FILTHY! The owners quite obviously put NO ...

NEVER AGAIN!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/09
For many years, we took annual vacations here, sometimes twice a summer. There was no better river access to be found for the price...but the price has done nothing but go up over the years, and the maintenance is almost non-existent. Spending a day cleaning the cabins was once worth it, but the prices have done nothing but go up and the cabins ...

things that make you go EEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/09
Disgusting!!! Light switches were grimy, food boogers in the sink, crusty bits of food in the silverware drawer, bathtub so old and banged up they painted it ORANGE to make it look better (????), old stove that only worked on high, mystery stains on the comforter, dust and cobwebs everywhere, tiny toilet area with tub, when you flush it sprays ...

Wonderful location and scenery is great. Kids love it. BUT the cabins are unkept and filthy. You don't want to touch anything or use any utensil there. Bring your own and a broom and mop.

Horrible, Dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/23/08
The view here is beautiful, no doubt. But, at some time you need to enter the filthy (mouse droppings, bugs, years of accumulated dirt) cabins. The one we had had broken floor boards, holes in sheetrock, mold in bathroom, ants and was just plain filthy. If this were in the city, DHS would have you arrested if you had kids living here. Not ...

Family Tradition
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/08
This will be our 29th year to go to Rio Bonito. It has become a family tradition and last year we added the third generation with our new grandbaby! If you are looking for the Hilton, go somewhere else, because this is not it. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere with friendly people, then please come. Get your favorite lawn chair, a good book and turn off the cell phone!
