My daughter and I recently spent two nights at Bretagna. I lived there as a student in 1970 but was a little nervous about going back after reading the reviews. There is still a little work going on but the floor we were on was fine. Our room was large with good beds, the bathroom had a double size, jetted tub! and they let us use their internet for a quick emai check. It may not be a one star hotel for long.

It was a very nice experience. hotel bretagna is now beeing rennovated. The owners of the hotel have taken the new magnificent rooms with beautiful decorations and a fire place, these rooms belonged to a royal family. The staff is very nice and helpful and we can't wait to come back at Hotel bretagna again.

You don't want to go all the way to Florence for this shabby hotel. It is not maintained well, sloppy, unclean, with smelly bathrooms, unattractive rooms that are very noisy at night, because the shutters and window latches are broken and there is a busy street between the hotel and the Arno. Only stay here if you like Vespas, ambulances, ...
