Best Healthy Vegetarian made from Scratch
By Srini, 05/27/07
We (our family) visited down town during 'Newark Wine & Dine' on March 31, 2007. We had a first stop at Ali Baba and had some samplings and then we settled at this restaurant for lunch.
The restaurant has a very good menu for vegetarians. We started with Moroccan fine wine and then ordered various things (Vegetarian Platter, Mujadara, ...

This is some of the best food in the area! I love this place, the prices are reasonable and it's decorated nicely. I recommend the vegetarian platter and have some bakalava for dessert!

Healthy and Cheap!

Middle Eastern cuisine is among the healthiest and most flavorful in the world. Ali Baba is Middle Eastern cuisine at its best, and I have yet to eat something that I didn't like at this restaurant. Their menu also caters quite nicely to vegetarians as there are substantial vegan friendly dishes. I recommend the mujadara, carrot salad, ...

Good food at a good price

Finally you can experience an authentic restaurant without having to spend a fortune. Everyone should try this place at least once. I love the shawarma chicken sandwich and the chicken with cumin sauce (can't remember the name).

Great option for brief escape
By sowocki, 03/27/06
Ali Baba is a great asset to Newark food scene. The middle east decor and menu allows you to take a brief escape from the hum-drum. The food is very good, especially for value. For lunch try any of the pita wraps and perhaps split an Ali Baba salad. For dinner, the Moroccan Chicken and Samke Hara salmon are great treats, at a very reasonable price.

Absolutely, I can't wait to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/02/05
As the MANY times I've driven or walked by Ali Baba on Main St. in Newark, DE, until tonight, I never dined there. Truly MY LOSS!
I don't remember the last time I OVERALL enjoyed a dining experience such as this!!
Ali Baba has a small parking lot behind their restaurant where one can enter through the back door, or if walking, as I ...

Food was interesting!
By The Lords Child, 10/26/05
This place was interesting. They use alot of lemon and seasoning that is not normally utilized by americans so it takes some getting used to. It was more bland than I cared for however, it was good and I would go there again.

Great decor. Don't let the exterior fool you. Great lunch for a great price. Dessert was yummy and for $1 for baklava, you can't beat it!
