I'm a native Delawarean who cant help by brag about our great local cuisine. My family and I thoroughly enjoy our visits to cafe gelato, from their savory specials to their homemade ice cream - you can not help to feel like a kid in a sundae shop when you are there ;) Best of all the staff and restaurant is kid friendly!!!! My son loves the mint chocolate chip gelato.

I love going to Caffe Gelato for lunch with my friends. The salads are excellent. My favorite is the spinach salad or a daily special salad. Service is excellent. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed the selection of wines. The prices are unusually affordable. I travel often and regularly see the wines priced $10 higher or more. There were also a number of good half bottles for single diners. The staff offered me a ride back to my hotel at the end of dinner.

The atmosphere is nice, but a bit stuffy. Food was okay, but overpriced for what it was. The service was bad. I've been there twice in about 5 years and both experiences were bad. We went to Cafe Gelato for our 10th wedding anniversary. The food was the best italian since we moved to the area in Jan. 2007. The ambiance was so romantic we didn't even talk about our kids! We are looking forward to a return visit, hopefully soon!

Cafe Gelato is a very worthwhile dining destination.
The ambiance is delightful, and the food and service are top notch!
Best of all is the delight of carefully prepared and truly authentic Italian cuisine.
It's hard to believe that all this is on Main Street in Newark.

I used to live in Manhattan and Caffe Gelato in Newark has an East Village feel. Great wine list, excellent food and comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend dinner on the porch in warm weather.

I live in Newark and dine at Caffe Gelato at least once a month. The prosciuto roasted veal chop is my favorite. The spinach salad at lunch is also good. Try coconut or pistachio gelato for dessert.
