with the river off the porch and ducks to feed this was an relaxing place to be while visiting the area. The rooms for the night were once an house the family. Once gone the mother changed it to an in so the bedrooms are large and not motelish so the stay made you feel that more relaxed!!

I dont know if ownership has changed, but we were there 2 years ago and had very good food. Visited Labor Day 2007 weekend and the food was terrible. We were utterly deceived by the River Place Cottage when we stayed there recently. When we arrived at out cottage, we noticed a huge saloon "Coyote's Saloon: Ice Cold Beer" literally right beside the cottage. We absolutely loved the great food here, and if you want scenery, the river is right below you! Great fishing for anyone interested in that, great canoeing, and a good meeting place. We plan on staying in the cottage this June.

Other than the fact that it's at the main intersection of Hwys. 219N & 39 & has a family style restaurant, this is probably not the place for the average tourist. On the other hand, the informal atmosphere probably works great for motorcyclists, trail hikers, kayakers (when the river is up & flowing) etc. Motel check-in is done at ...
