Spent a few days at the Mandarin New York and had a chance to get a massage at the spa. What a treat. Great staff; fantastic facility and luxurious relaxation. The amethyst steam room is particularly nice.

  • Total Class
    By Dirk, 05/12/07
I went to the Mandarin Oriental many times whilst I was renting an apartment, nearby, in New York. I wish I'd seen the hotel first. It has a stunning view overlooking Central Park, from the lobby and restaurant on the 35th floor. One of the best I have ever seen, in any city. This hotel gives you a five star welcome - warm, genuine, sincere and ...

  • Go to the Ritz
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/10/07
It was a travesty from the moment we entered the hotel. We had reserved four rooms for two nights on a corporate account, and our guests were asked for credit cards, even though we had arranged beforehand that they would not. None of the rooms were ready by the check-in time. An elderly woman was left waiting for more than two hours...no offer of ...

  • Stunned at poor quality of this luxury hotel!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/06
Staff were not gracious or very welcoming.
Maid tried to get in room with privacy light on.

The room had too many small problems, like the television didn’t always work; the soap dish in the bathroom was broken, so when you put the wet slippery bar on it, the bar slid to the bathroom floor; the toilet paper holder in the bathroom was loose in ...

  • Not impressed
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/06
This Hotel is in a great location, but that is all that can be said for it.

We called to modify our reservation and we got someone on the phone who harldy spoke English! We didn't even receive a confirmation e-mail, as was agreed to. I would rate the customer service is questionable, at best!!

Waited for ages to check in at the guest ...

  • Terrible!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/06
My experience with the staff was that they were late to attend to requests a lot of the time and very unattentive.

location is great (right in the centre of everything that is happening).

Rooms are sort of small, but the bathroom has a exquisite bath and shower.
Nevertheless, I would rate the room as below average for a luxury hotel, partly ...

  • What a dissapointment!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/06
I stayed at this hotel three weeks before Christmas.

When we arrived at the hotel the doorman just grabbed our luggage, without even greeting us. At the front desk, we were directed to the 35th floor where the guest check in is located. Again there wasn't anybody available to greet us or direct us to the right service desk (there were two). ...

    By A Yahoo! User, 12/17/06
i love the Manderin Oriental, i loved it the moment i got out of the limo. As soon as we arrived we were treated like royalty. they wouldn't even let me carry my suitcase to the door. we were very well treated by all the staff and we were on the 52nd floor with the grand park view. central park looks beautiful from the 52nd floor so does the ...
