This place is nothing more than a glorified dorm room. Yes it it cheap but it is really uncomfortable. And the rooms are not decorated as promised by the website

The is no heating in the entire building until the spring of 2006, there is no working kitchen as shown on their web-site. This is also a subsidized housing location for the city of San Diego. This place is what use to be called a "flop house".

As soon as I walked into my room, I walked right back out and got money back as I could not possibly stay in a place that looked like a psychiatric ward.
There was no bathroom or shower in the room. I noticed that about 30 rooms share 4-8 toilets in the hallway.
Please..Yahoo Travel gave this place 3 stars. I am unlikely to book from yahoo travel again.

The 500 West Hotel has no heat, no working kitchen, unclean bathrooms. Much like an old time "flop house". Rooms are appox. 10' x 10'. Very poor value

Good location, close to downtown, Resturants and cruise ships. Room was confortable.

Could not control temperature in the room. The Room was cold, but they gave us extra blankets.

I had no idea that such a well-known hotel would be so misrepresented. I expected shared bathrooms but did not expect a closet-sized room.

The room was comfortable. Small, but I didn't need any extra room. I had nice furniture, with hangers in the closet. The TV is a tiny flatscreen, but it works...and since the room is so small, you really don't need anything bigger--it sits almost at the foot of your bed.
