the assistant director of house keeping was very very rude when i had called in and lost something that ment alot to me. i would never stay there again and if i were the manager there she would not be working there with an attitude like she had with me. the front desk staff is very inconsiderate as well and for the cleanliness of it was horrific. ...
This hotel is clean, comfortable, well-run and pretty close to campus. The downsides are the size of the room (standard), the size of bathrooms (smallish) and the curtains that let in a lot of light and noise. I kept asking myself why it cost so much more than the Hampton Inn right next door since no breakfast was included. I could find no reason to pay $50 more per night.
This hotel did not have the accomodation that I had reserved and I had even called the hotel directly to confirm. The desk person (there was no manager available) basically told me it was their way or the highway and it was too bad about my confirmation -- I checked-out the next morning. I would never stay here again or recommend the hotel to anyone -- it's too far out of town anyway.
As a globall traveller, I have become a very tough critic. Because a Hotel is five star means nothing. This Hotel has service that is very commendable. The resteraunt has food that is worth twice what is charged. This Hotel gets a five star rating. Because they earned it. OH, trouble sleeping? Not here. The beds are so nice, I found the manufactuer and purchased one.
Ditto to Sharon's comments. They now have a fantastic full service restaurant and room service. It is close to downtown State College, Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State campus, and Beaver Stadium. The staff was friendly and helpful.
