If you are looking for something different from the major chains, check out the Valencia Riverwalk. They do trendy well, with dramatic lighting, mood music in the halls, etc. A few rooms on third floor open onto an interior courtyard, very nice. Staff was friendly and courteous, which is not always the case at trendy places.

I have stayed here 3 times. Neat place, but bring a flashlight. If you are trying to work in your room there is just no way to get it bright enough, even with removing all the lamp shades. Dirty towels left in my room last time.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL, CAN'T WAIT TO GO AGAIN!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/07
I LOVED THE ATMOSPHERE. IT IS VERY ROMANTIC. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVEN'T BEEN AWAY OR ALONE SINCE OUR SON, 2 & 1/2 YEARS AGO. WE NOW HAVE A 7MTH OLD DAUGHTER AS WELL. IT WAS VERY ROMANTIC.
This hotel is absolutely beautiful and perfectly located at one end of the famous San Antonio Riverwalk. Everything to see in San Antonio, the Alamo, Marketplace, La Vallita, and more is just steps away from the hotel. The hotel is modern and sleek, well worth the money. We didn't even want to leave the room. The staff is very friendly and ...

Not great for the money.

Good location, but inside was alsways dark (lobby was like NIGHT!) and rather depressing. The room lighting was also dark. The elevator to the riverwalk and restaurant was turned off the whole weekend, which made it difficult for my friend with a cane. For the price, I would try somewhere else next time.
This place is perfect for spending down time together. Lazy mornings, and walks along the river are just a few things that one can do here. I love the decor, rich wood, and mordern updates. Need to plan another stay soon.
I was in San Antonio for a conference for work and we actually had the conference at the Hotel Valencia, it was my first time being in San Antonio and did not know what to expect. I would definitely recommend getting the San Tran from the airport if need be. It is only $15.00 dollars one way and it saves you the hassle of driving downtown and the ...
I had the opportunity to stay at the Valencia when it first opened. This hotel brings a very much needed modern feel to a city of such history. Rooms were great and the bar/lounge excellent.

So disappointed with price vs. service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/06
My boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Valencia for my birthday. I've always liked the hotel--we are frequent visitors of the VBar in the lobby. Check-in was a hassel. There was only one person available for check-in on a SATURDAY AFTERNOON! That whole process took about half an hour, even though we made reservations far in advance. ...
Hotel Valencia is an excellent hotel. The service was outstanding and everyone one is so friendly and courteous. The decor is awesome....the interior is art deco and the waterfall in the lobby sets a calming and relaxed tone to the place. The rooms are very comfortable....the beds sleep extremely well. Location is nice and quiet despite being ...
