If you're in the area, its worth a stop. Our tour stopped at the Look out point for picture opportunities, and we're glad we got to see it.

Great break from Las Vegas

This ia an amazing place. You will see one of the greatest examples of a public works project done right. To call it a tourist trap is a misrepresentation.
It is a great tourist destination for a couple of hours.
The hoover dam is amazing. We took a tour from a flyer we got on the strip. The tour was overbooked so we got bumped up to the deluxe package for free. We had plenty of time to tour the dam, and then get back on the bus to head back. It was extremely hot the day we went, but inside the dam and on the tour it was airconditioned. The drive out was just as great as the tour of the dam. The tour guides were knowledgeable and answered many questions.
No doubt Hoover dam is the most famous dam in the world. It's not the biggest most luxurious, or anything that would make it so famous, it's simply because it so close to the city of lights - Las Vegas. First of all, this was our first time in Las Vegas. The town was spectacular and we spent a lot of money there. However, our visit to Hoover Dam was an experience that we will never forget and it has soured our entire vacation in Nevada.
