Being full-time National Guard, I travel a lot, mostly alone, without my husband. So, if your a solo female, this place is great for security and peace of mind. The rooms are tiny, but I don't need a whole lot to read and sleep. My room, the Timber Room, was a one-person apartment, with a kitchenette. Very well-priced, clean, and quiet. Plus, I love the shower with its super-hot water and forceful flow.
I stayed at the Madras Hotel twice. The owners treated me very well and gave me a tour. I stayed in the Native View room with a shower once, and in the Presidential Suite with shared bathrooms with claw tub and separate shower the second time. Unique old hotel and motel. Hotel was constructed in 1911 and has rooms refitted to that historical time period. 1950's motel section has renovated rooms of that era. A lot of fun. The place has a lot of character and epitomizes this Central Oregon town.

Tried another budget motel on the way into town. So glad I checked this place out. The sign out front says built in 1911, reclaimed in 1999. Quaint nastalgic feel.
