What I liked...Friendly, efficient service - flavorful, high quality food - relaxing in the great room by the fire - bonfire in the evening - quite, beautiful setting with many nearby activities - massage at the spa
The purpose of my trip was business and pleasure. I have spent 8 weeks in 2009 running business meetings. From a conference ...

Little Owner Big Heart
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/14/09
I work at the Gateway Lodge (not the owner). I thought it might be helpful to share some of the things very recently written in our guest book. They should be heard as well, to be fair: 4/26/09: "Awesome food, awesome service, we loved it. Will be back, thanks." 4/24/09: "We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Staff, massage, accommodations ...

Been going there for years...but not anymore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/06/08
TheGateway Lodge is under new ownership. The new owner has made significant changes to the way things are done at Gateway and not for the better. My family has been going there for over 20 years and the changes have made us decide that we will not be returning. The staff was cut resulting in reduced customer service. The menu at the resturaunt was gutted. It isn't what it was...NOT GOING BACK

Response to Management concerning Cabin 5
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/08
So you say you have addressed the screens issue in your dilapidated Cabin 5. What about all of the other problems? There are still problems with the smell of gas from the pathetic small dirty stove that looks like something from the 60s, the refrigerator with missing shelves and no icecube tray, the kitchen sink and cabinets circa 1950s, the ...

Was just okay...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/08
The place was beautiful, but did not know there wasn't a TV in our room, and wasn't told there were rooms with TV's. We were very uninformed about the Lodge and didn't want to keep asking questions. Felt they were understaffed and it could have been a better experience if they would have explained where things were located when we ...
I have recently read the guests review of Cabin 5, although I definitely feel it was an exaggeration I do thank them for keeping us on our toes as far as cabin maintenance.Since the poor review on the cabins in July of 2007 I have had one person fom the maintenance department down there all summer doing "fix-its"in the cabins. Yes the ...

Cabin 5 is a dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/08
Cabin 5 is a rundown, dilapidated, stinking place. We just stayed there in July 2008 and could smell gas from the pathetic small dirty stove; 2 windows were missing screens and the screendoor had a broken screen, which allowed bugs to come in and land on us while sleeping in this un-airconditioned damp musty cabin; the refrigerator had missing ...

Rustic is different than Run Down!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/07
The location was fabulous and the food in the dining room was delicious ,although a little over priced. The service was very slow one waitress for the entire dining room. Information received about this facility was inadequate. When making reservations we were not told that the cabin kitchens were empty. That was a minor problem compared to the ...
Your staff worked very hard to return belongs that we had left in the room. I spoke most often to Amber. She was honest and very truthful and did everything in her power to make sure of the return.
We have received our belongs, they are in excellent condition. Thank you so much for your effort and a special thank you to Amber and Tracy.
