Perfect Small Town charm!First I would like to say I read the previous reviews and they were some what accurate. The hotel is older and could use some renovations however it is directly on the beach and the views are unbelievable. There were no issues with smells-damaged furinture-or rude staff. needs to be updatedIt's in hey day Bethany Arms was a great place to stay. The problem is it still has the same look as it did 40 years ago. The beds are uncomfortable, the bedspreads are yucky, and stuff is broken all the time. The owners are sitting on a gold mine(and have been since it opened many, many years ago. We've stayed here 3 times!Building E is definitely the one to stay in - we love the view and the closeness of the boardwalk and the beach. We also can walk anywhere in town for shopping and restaurants. The location can't be beat.

Perfect little get awayThis is the perfect little retreat at the beach. A previous review called it chic shabby and I would agree. After a great day of fun on the beach we could come back and relax with the beach right there outside the window. I loved watching the sun rise as a sat on the balcony and listening to the waves roll in as I fell asleep.

The Best in Bethany!We stayed in Building E the weekend of Labor day and the week after and it was heaven. No, it is not the Four Seasons but it is RIGHT ON THE BEACH and the view can't be beat. Shabby ChicMy husband and I go evey year shortly after Labor Day with 2 other couples for a week to 10 days. We always stay in Building E (which is on the relatively quiet boardwalk) on the 3rd floor for the best views with ajoining balonies so we can watch the sunrise together or separately over coffee. Smelly and run downOur room smelled very strongly of cat piss. When we complained, we were told that the carpets had just been washed, and weren't yet dry. They gave us a bottle of a rather ineffective odor spray that didn't help a bit and showed no further interest in the problem. The odor persisted for our two night stay. Considering it's location...This hotel is great for those who don't need a swanky place to stay, and only come for the fun at the beach. It's right by the water and on the boardwalk, making it much easier to go for a day to the beach. Only a minute of walking so the kids won't go crazy. The bathroom area however did not appear to be remodeled on anything since the building was built. Otherwise, it's a good price for a hotel thats directly on the water!2 of 2 Yahoo!
