  • "Bob's Lobbs" Lobblolly Pines
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/09
Bob is a great storyteller. Has planted every square inch, paths, brook, pools, etc. Md. Native Plant Society visits yearly. Spring flowering looks like The Masters. The trees are what the shore looked like in 1600's before white guy. Rooms in back large and clean. A great throwback motel owned and operated by a man who cares and matters.

  • We're going back next year!!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/08
We had to attend a family wedding and decided to make a mini-vacation out of a long weekend. We chose Rittenhouse for a number of reasons, not the least of which was because it reminded us of places we used to stop when traveling with our parents when we were kids. We also chose it because of the lack of amenities. We basically wanted a quiet place ...

  • Wonderful, clean, and personable
    By Kiley, 07/23/08
My family (two adults, and two kids) stayed here for a weekend.

Great place - the motor lodge time left behind. It was wonderful sharing a piece of Americana that you don't find anymore with our kids. We loved the nature paths, complete with signs, and the personal attention from Mr. Rittenhouse. We were running late on our arrival day, ...

  • Great for Fishermen
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/07
Great location for fishermen wanting access to Cape Charles, Kiptopeake, or Oyster. Good parking for trailers. Rooms are a little dated, but clean and well maintained. Ask for a room around back and you can keep an eye on your rig.

    By daryl, 11/08/07
We like personal attention and Robert Rittenhouse gives it. He is a fount of info for things to do and places worthwhile to eat. We have stayed twice before and will be staying again soon.

  • Beautiful Hideaway
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/07
This little Inn was just beautiful. The rooms are a bit older, but they were clean and very spacious. The grounds are a nature bonanza of quiet peaceful green. There is even a small brook with benches to sit on and just enjoy the sounds of nature. Close enough to a grocery store and fast food places, but far enough away from the road to be ...

  • Quiet in the hustle
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/07
Set 13 miles north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, this is one of the best kept secrets on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Having Stayed there many times i look forward to my next visit as i pack up. Bob is a class act and he treats his guests as family. Give it try, you will not regret it.

  • Been many times
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/12/07
This place is a throwback to the old days. I've been that at least ten times and look forward to going back again. One of the best kept secrets. Definitely takes you back to a simpler time.
