THis would be a fun thing to do with your kids. I thought the prices for different rocks ect. were very high in the gift shop. It is a lot of fun looking through the sand and getting the stones identified. The cut and mounted stones seem to be comparable with similar shops.

Myself, wife and 8 year old daughter went and had a good time, bought the $15 bucket. My daughter had a blast.

My husband bought a bucket for my 7 year old. He had a great time looking for treasures. The people working were very friendly and very family oriented. It was my birthday so we had one of his stones mounted in a ring for me. He is so proud because it is his very own stone. We will go back every time we go to pigeon forge. I think I'll have a lot of jewelry!!

This is a definite stop when we travel to Pigeon Forge every year. We usually go twice during our visit. You never know what you might find in the buckets. The anticipation is great, as we drive down the parkway on our way to the hotel. The old timer that works there is just icing on the cake. My daughter has a great collection of gems and we look forward to more every year. It's a great experience and memory!!!

It's just fun! Playing in the water - looking for gems. And they cut and polish the gems for free after paying for the gold that you have it set in (i.e.- ring, pendant,etc.). And really good prices on the jewelry/gold too.

Great for kids. Lots to do. Reasonable prices at hotels, meals, attractions. We were there for an extremely humid, and hot week, so we skipped Dollywood, but did do Little Pigeon River rafting, mining, shopping, and Cherokee N.C. reservation. As one who has been to both Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, and Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, I can tell you to expect the same thing at both places. Very high prices for entrance, but lots of fun to be had. Families and couples alike should visit Dollywood for a fun day of activities, rides, food, etc.
