Rented a no-frills cabin mostly because it came with its own dock. The water level was lowish...we basically bottomed out every time, at least its a sandy bottom. Went recently and the water was a foot lower. The killer was everyone and theyre brother fly up and down this waterway about 20 feet offshore...just think what thats gonna do to a boat ...

Twice a year campers since 2006

Campsites are large and well maintained. Showers are also large and lots of hot water and the toilets are separate from the showers. Outdoor sink for cleaning any dishes. We do an early spring trip and a late fall trip and are often the only campers. We always feel very safe, and the rangers patrol frequently and are very helpful. The boat ramp is a dream!

Happily Surprised

The park was really, really nice. There is a park area and a beach area combined. My family had the best time and we would definetly go back again.
This is a nice and clean park. The staff are courteous. The ground is well maintained. The camping areas and the beach are clean. Safe for family as there's lifeguard on duty. Expect mosquitoes at dawn though and bring repellent and you'll be alright.

My 9-year old son and I camped out here for 2 nights over the Labor Day weekend 2007 and had a great time. The campsites were large and clean. It was a safe and family-friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed a little fishing, hiking and a boat tour of the lake. However, my son's favorite site was the beach area. We definitely plan to go back next year.

Our new favorite place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/22/07
Lake Anna State Park was our favorite discovery last summer. My girls swam at the beach. We set up a canopy and barbecued, then put the boat in the water and had a great time on the lake. The water is much cleaner than the Potomac, we could actually swim. We can't wait to go back this year and rent a cabin.

It was horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/05
I hated lake anna state park because I didn't feel safe. There were no rangers to be seen almost the whole time we were there and it was a very dirty place. I would not advise anyone to go to this place. It was horrible.
