We bought a time share with El Cid in 2002 when we strolled through on a cruise ship stop. This is our 1st return in 7 yrs. Wow! What a mess! We were booked on the top floor (28th), arrived at our room that absolutely reeked of tobacco smoke. While waiting to be moved to another unit, the maid told us that she simply can't get the smell out ...
Stay away from this resort at all costs. They will suck you into a timeshare presentation and lie to you to get a sale. I want to let as many people know that El Cid is a deceptive company. DO NOT ATTEND ANY OF THEIR PRESENTATIONS. They WILL try to sign you up on your first day. read my entire story on my blog. I hope to help others avoid the ...
I cannot think of one thing I did not like about this hotel. It was so nice, the staff was so great...even Fidel down at the pool who put up with us the whole 9 days. There were 12 of us and we had a ball. The food was wonderful, the location was great especially since we walked to different restaurant s almost every night. We had ...
DISLIKES: The resort should be more forthcoming with what exactly is included under the all-inclusive plan. For example, only house drinks are covered (daquiris & margaritas & so on-draft Corona & Pacifico). If you think you are going to have a Bud light or Jack Daniels, they are NOT included with the all-inclusive plans.
This was a great hotel. When we first arrived our room wasn't ready so they gave us an upgraded room for free. The food for the most part was pretty good with the exception of the chicken "tamale" at the La Cascada restaurant, it was really a chicken leg and wing still on the bone wrapped up in a banana leaf and the rice was ...

Loved the pool areas although could get loud at times. Beach out front was very nice - north of the golden zone so not as busy but within walking distance. Watch out for Time share salespeople in the front but usually polite if you say no - nada. Walking distance to lots of great restaurants so all inclusive isn't really needed unless you are going to drink lots....
This place was pretty cool. we liked the maids we gave her our cloths and shoes for her kids we needed more room in our suitcases because of the stuff we bought shopping decent prices. your not allowed to bring your own liquor we went to walmart yes walmart and grabbed a few cases of corona when we got back they said no but for a fat tip one of ...

Really lacked a place to get out of the cold.

We stayed at the El Cid Castilla in January 2006. The rooms were small and definitely not something to write home about. The beds were small and hard, but I'd expected that after reading the reviews prior to going. The service was also poor and there was no place to go after dinner except your room. After the first week the entertainment ...
Pool was great- fun slides, rocks to jump off and very good pool drinks to keep you cool. Restaurant offers a variety of food selections including specials, fresh fish along with a full service buffet. Resort is children friendly providing great service and beautiful beach. Only issues is that the tennis courts need to be re-surfaced.

We have been to Mazatlan many many times and always stayed at Pueblo Bonito or Rivera. The room we expensive and the water only got hot certain times of the day and the safes in either suite didn't work. Could hear running water thru the pipes all night and the beds were like sleeping on concrete. We finally got rest when we got home. Never will stay at this hotel agian,
