This is a GREAT place to be in SD. You don't even need to leave b/c there's so much action at the W with the living room and the Beach bar. But if you do the location is prime, right next to the Gaslamp.

Partying in SD
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/05
The W is a nice place to stay for all ages but fits the mid-twenties to mid-thirties well. The rooms is your basic two beds or king but the design is extremely trendy. There is a blackboard in the room and many little add-on that "accent" the room nicely. At night, go hang out on the second floor (the lounge/bar) and definitely dress ...
I had my 31st birthday there. The restaurant was excellent (RICE) and then my boyfriend had a surprise party for me up at the beach bar, which is AWESOME, and then we spent the night. The bed is so comfortable and the room is so fun. It was the best b-day. It's expensive, but worth the experience.

SURPURB

This is one of the best hotels in San Diego, service was excellent. Food was surpurb. Location is perfect - walking distance to the gas lamp district, a few blocks from the water.
Overall wonderful experience.

Great hotel. If you're looking for a place off of the water, this is it. The rooms are cool and comfortable. You have to check out the sand bar on the roof. Great place!

Better places to stay in SD
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/05
Except for the bar called "the beach", which is pretty cool but overpriced, there was nothing great about the hotel or its location. There are better hotels closer to the Gaslamp, Little Italy. Unless of course you need access to a bail bondsman, in which case this is the closest place. Rooms were tiny and more NYC style then what is to be expected in San Diego.

Perfect views, location and service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/18/05
I love the W hotels, especially this one in San Diego. It is centrally located just north of downtown with fabulous bay view across to Coronado. Just blocks from fantastic bistros in Little Italy and equally close to the delicious restaurants and nightlife of the wonderfully refurbished Gaslamp District and a quick Red Trolley ride from the new ballbark. The service is second to none and the Heavenly beds are perfection !

"W-W-W!"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/15/05
Three big "W's"- well-over-hyped, way-over-priced, and whoa!-over-rated. If you are under 35 years old and wealthy, this might just be "the" place. If you are married and over 40, don't even think about it. It was advertised to be near the Gaslamp District - if you don't mind walking 10-11 blocks. This is an old ...
