Party at the Standard, don't plan for peace and quiet
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/31/06
First off, the computers where down when I stayed at the Downtown Standard. We got a key to a room at about 2AM..a room that was already occupied! Then we had to wait and where given keys to 2 other rooms...the keys didn't open the doors...to either room. Finally, 30 minutes later, we got a key to a room. The party atmosphere was very ...

I will never go back!!!

Front desk could not find our reservations. Had to wait almost one hour to clear up. Disappointed with the front desks lazy attitude towards the problem. Upper management has a very severe problem and obviously doesn't know this.
Restaurant service was the same. Staff did not know menu well. Received the right order, but was told it was ...

Not a business man's hotel
By dbhakta93, 02/03/06
This hotel should only be booked if you're planning on partying in downtown and need it for location purposes. There is absolutely nothing of value in the rooms and you're stay will definitely require ear plugs. The rooftop bar is cool but other than that, it is way overpriced and the rooms remind you of a stay at a hospital. The street ...

Great Business Trip
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/27/05
I travel about more than half a year for business across the world. So it was an amazing surprise to have stayed in such a diverse hotel. I stayed at the Standard for 2 weeks and my experience goes by far one of the best hotels I’ve had the pleasure of staying. The front desk staff were not only accommodating but genuinely professional and ...

A Flash in the Pan
By ggsisterhood, 10/10/05
The Standard appears to be the new "hot" spot; most likely due to the European (perhaps Swiss or Swedish) influence. It's decorating is very stark and cold but interesting. It is decorated in the orange of the late 60's/early 70's. Very bold, loud accents. The rooms are not designed for the travelers comfort or ...

Sleek, modern rooms. Great rooftop pool and bar. Helpful front desk. Cool lobby. Free internet connection in room. The "place to be" in downtown LA

Love the Rooftop
By Maceo, 10/04/05
Loved it all, especially the rooftop with a pool and a bar (and a DJ)... Went there for a Nike-sponsored event as well as entertaining guests. The rooms are good sized. The showers are interesting-- don't be shy!

Nice, Nice, Nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/04/05
I picked the standard of a very high recommendation from a trusted friend for a taste of the nightlife. The Standard LA is it. Anything but standard, This hotel was all about breaking the trends and having a great time. Walking into the hotel made me feel as if I were in Chicago again with the almost out of place structural detail. It did ...
