An amazingly beautiful construction by Gaudi. The architecture is amazing, and the sculptures all around are beautifully made.
The crosses on the top have bright colors.

Anotoni Gaudi has dedicated a long time of his life building the Sagrada Familia. However, due to his illness and death, the Sagrada Familia is called the (unfinished church), ...

  • a must see for Barcelona
    By olapolskagirl, 03/24/08
Loved it. However, a lot of it is still under construction, so be prepared for cranes in your pictures. I highly suggest taking the elevator to the top, it's only 2 Euros and the view is spectacular. Enjoy!

I haven't traveled to Barcelona yet, but I am going at the end of April 2008 and I just have to say in response to the person who posted about it being so awful that anyone who has studied Spain at all knows that people from Cataluña do not consider themselves Spaniards. They have tried many times in the past to separate themselves from Spain ...

Probably my favorite place to visit in the world, and it's in my favorite city. While you are in Barcelona, be sure to see all of the other Gaudi sites.

  • To beautiful for words
    By Rachel F, 12/03/07
I visited Barcelona in 2003 and saw the Sagrada Familia as part of a trip going all over Spain. I have to say that this was my favorite location, I was in awe at the amazing detail of the building, and after studying it, getting to see it in person was a real treat. I plan to go back in around 50ish years (that is the estimated time for the total ...

very beautiful building, be sure to bring your cameras. the detail is amazing.

only draw back is the price, 8 euros to get in and 2 euros to take a lift to the top, which seems ok except you then have to walk down!! its around 600 steps down windy narrow stairs, probably not best for some people.

  • An eyesore...in a good way.
    By sixnohit, 08/15/07
This church is absolutely amazing. My friend and I spent 2 hours in it and we didn't even see all of it. I can't wait for it to be finished. The eyesore part goes for the scaffolding and cranes surrounding the church.

  • WOW!!
    By sweetsxyazn2002, 06/21/07
I've been to alot of churches in Europe so being here was just amazing. To see something on this grand scale in the middle of construction is really crazy. I don't think I will ever see something like that again - where the columns are still being molded and you see plasterwork on the ground. Just fascinating.

The architecture itself is awesome. Gaudi was so AHEAD of his time. Pure genuis!!!!

  • Wow!

Imposing and magnificent. The vision that Gaudi had for this place is really awe inspiring. You can see it for miles and miles and - up close - it is a sight to behold. No trip to Barcelona is complete without stopping for a visit.

Major downside is that there is still another 20 years to completion. I'll be going back then!
