Lived here for 18 mos. Son was born in Leeds General Infirmary. Leeds is a great city. We lived on the canal; my wife walked to Leeds Univ. every day while I worked in Leeds. Great people, atmosphere, flavor, fun. A true British experience, not a typical American expat enclave you'd find in London.

I like this buisy city...I especially like the restaurant I descovered in Hyde park Corner (La Cafetiere, 6 The Crescent).

and guess what, they have another place in town...yes in town (La Cafetiere, 10 Merrion Street)..just before Vicar lane.

Leeds is unrivalled for such a range of shops, from quirky african gift-shops to selective and specialist boutiques, from high-street names to high-fashion label shops. I like Leeds because, there is always lots to do and it is convienient to get to and around. Last time I visited the heart of Leeds I was visiting the Grande Theatre. I didn't enjoy it very much as,even though I enjoy the Theatre it just wasn't very appealing. During my stay I went to the theatre 3 times and none of the shows were much better than I could do!

A well known shopping city - worth a visit if you live in the UK or are coming from outside the UK. If you would like to stay in the centre of Leeds try the Radison SAS hotel - or there are many others, but this is a good, extremely safe environemt at one of the main entertainment places in Leeds - The Light.
