I spent 4 wonderful days in Zanzibar in August of 07. the beach was SO beautiful-and I LIVE 1 mile from the beach here in the states. So relaxing. The sunsets are amazing. Diving is easy and lots to see. make sure you go to the Northeast corner where the lighthouse is - great photos. The fruits and veggies grown here. WOW! Stone town is not to be missed. Food was otherwise OK. People were very nice too!

this is my home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/06
I moved to Canada to seek a better life but I am moving back. No words can express the beauty of Zanzibar. There are a million cities in the word more dangerous than the beautiful island. The nicest, most humblest people in the world. Try to go there and you will never want to return back to your home.

Congratulations Kempinski
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/24/06
My husband and I recently travelled to Tanzania from Australia on our honeymoon and were absolutely delighted to find two of the most amazing properties. We overnighted at the Kilimanjaro Hotel Kempinski which we are told only opned last year (lovely hotel and superb food particularly the Asian restaurant), then we travelled onto Zanzibar by ferry ...
Dhow Palace Hotel in Tanzania is one of the most lovely I've been to. It's in yhe middle of Stone Town and fairly close to e.g. the local market and most sights. When going to Zanzibar, be prepared to be amazed. The old slave island has wonderful beaches and taking the "Spice tour" is an experience in itself.
Might experience ...

spice capital

It was 1996... spent three weeks in Zanzibar. Most of the time was actually underwater getting SCUBA certified! Emerson House is lovely - they have a beautiful 'restaurant' on the rooftop, overlooking the town.
I always said that if I ever had a honeymoon, I'd go back there. What a lovely place. Very poor, as you would guess, but very lovely.

A touch of heaven on earth...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/05
I visited Zanzibar as a single female and had a wonderful time! The people were great, the food fantastic and the scenery just out of this world. I spent most of my time in smaller hotels on the beaches up north and to the east and my last two nights at the Serena Inn, which was bliss. The island is quite poor, with most people living off tourism ...
