polonnaruwa is an ancient city with many many attractions .. away from the capital colombo in the north central part of the country .. drier still it is very relaxed and agriculture based ... the ancient history in this part of the coutry spans many many centuries back and some amzing structures can be seen ... this is apparently the second capital of sri lanka after Anuradhapuraya.
