My name is Joyce and used to live in Rota in 74, 75, and 76 and used to work at the EM Club. Off base I used to go to Benny's Bar and my boy friend's name was Buddy. My brother was stationed there in the Navy and had some of the best times of my life there. The beach was beautiful and the gambas to die for. Great times for sure.

Maybe one thing the water being turned off at night durning the winter to fill up for the tourist inthe summer, other than that we loved the attmostpher the old world living mixed with the modern. When we had to go home due to a faimly emergency we really missed Rota and the wounderful ...
The Spaniards are a beautiful people. I have nothing bad to say about Rota Spain or Cadiz which is another town I visited in Spain. Breath taking cathedrals, the food, the atmosphere and the night life. The Spaniards take "siesta" and "fiesta" literally. But when it's time for fiesta? Oh man! When they come out? ...

Great days in Rota
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/03/06
There's not much not to like in Rota. My wife is from Spain and has family in Rota. We've been there several times for visits in the last 10 - 15 years. Ther is always so much to see and do. There are several wonderful beaches to enjoy in the summer months. There are also a few different fairs throughout the year. The nightlife during the ...
Let me just start by saying that everything is great in Rota. I first went to Rota roughly 3 years ago. My husband is in the navy and was stationed in Rota. I didn't know what to expect, but was excited just the same. From the moment I stepped off the plane I was just like a wide eyed kid in a toy store for the first time, it was wonderful. My ...
Last March, me and my husband went to Rota to visit his brother (which is in the Navy). He married a native from Rota. It just so happened to be Holy Week. I loved it so much. The parades were so wonderful. The sites of Rota and surrounding areas were just lovely. We went to Gibraltor. What a wonderful experience with the whole trip. We ...
A wonderful city with just the right mix of spanish culture and american influence (there's a US Navy base nearby). the architecture is beautiful, the people are friendly, and there is nothing like taking a quiet walk around the city during siesta and listening to the silence. I hope i can go back soon...

A return to Rota is like going home!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/09/06
Rota was home for 7 years! The morning cafe con leche y pan caliente is the best. The sun setting into the ocean in the evening provides the most spectacular sunsets. The candy store proprietor, Pepe, who treats you like family. The warm climate and even warmer people of Rota are the motivation to return periodically. Sharon B
