My family & I visited Bled Slovenia in June 2008. It is very beautiful--but also commercialized. Some hints--if you go there by car, don't stay in the town. Stay at one of the many "tourist farms" in the area. We stayed at the Frcej Farm owned by Anton Zupan in nearby Zgornje Gorje. For 20E per person, my family of 4 had a ...

hotel astoria bled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/05
we paid over 100 euro per room. the room was filthy with smell of trash.the bathroom was very little and the dush was so low that only a liitle child could take a shower. i am 60 years old i travel a lot in europe and never before in my all life i saw a room so filthy as the rooms in hotel astoria .just be carefull before you enter this hotel.
without a doubt bled is the best place I've ever been. It's wonderful nature and interesting history is getting on so perfectly. It's comforting, relaxing and full of peace. The walk you take around the lake between endless green trees makes you feel like you've found your heaven on earth. I highly recommend everyone to see this piece of heaven. It's also a perfect choice for honeymoons.

A hidden gem
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/05
We arrived in Bled on the train from Italy in the summer of 2005 and were planning on camping, but just as we arrived it started to rain. A kind gentleman who spoke no English was at the train station and gave three of us backpackers a ride into town in his car. Bled is one of the places atop my favorite destinations list. The setting couldn't be any better -- imagine a crystal blue lake with a tiny island in the middle. A quaint church sits on the island and overlooking the lake and town - high upon a hill - is a medieval castle.
I'd recommend spending at least one night in Bled. There ...

I loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/05
Although i'm just twelve years old i enjoyed Lake Bled in slovenia. I liked it because of the beautiful scenery such as the mango sun spilling its juice over the lake. I think that this describes it in a poetic manner if I ever have the chance I would go back every year. This place is perfect for poets and others alike.i acheived a level 7 result in an essay by writing about slovenia.
