My husband and i went to Bratislava 12 years ago on our honeymoon to Budapest. We got on the wrong train going to vienna and after many stops deciced to get off and look around. We found the most beautiful city i've ever been to. Honestly my favorite place out of all my trips to Europe. The people are amazing. The food is wondeful. We ...

A couple days is all you need
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/19/07
I've lived in Bratislava for almost 3 years now. Why don't I like it? 1. rude and unhelpful people 2. lack of "green" spaces 3. Soviet era architecture (just see the "view" from the castle!) 4. food quality is generally terrible 5. wages low, prices rising... Go see the rest of Slovakia; the mountains and the castles ...
I have been to Bratislva three times. Each time I visited, it was different. Dicover things and places I did not noticed. It is a small city and probably one can tour the entire city in 1/2 day. One thing though I had some issues with gypsies near the train station and they were pretty agressive in my opinion compared ones from other surrounding countries. I love the sheep's cheese dumplings.
Bratislava is filled with friendly, beautiful people (long legs:-)), and it is a welcome respite compared to the large metropolis of Wien (although obviously a world-class city). The old town is small yet very picturesque, just as there are not too many nightspots but they are of very high quality. I stayed at the Hotel Pergia in Old Town...gorgeous room, friendly staff, highly recommended!! Overall, a lovely experience and good memories...

A great place to visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/11/06
Bratislava is a fantastic city. There is so much to see and do. Devin Castle by the border with Austria provides stunning views, the spa in the shopping centre is excellant, with about 10 different saunas, an ice room, outside terrace, pools, jacuzzis and with massages costing about £4.00. We went wine tasting in a village just outside Bratislava, ...
Bratislava is like a hidden gem. It is so close to Vienna and therefore so easy for western visitors to easily pop over, adding one more capital and one more country to their list. I'm a Canadian who has visited Bratislava several times and taken a summer course there. Its "Old City" section (Stare Mesto) is charming, with great ...
I have to say I was truly amazed by what I found in Bratislava. I expected a modern city to an extent, but not nearly as modern as I found. The city itself is beautiful with a picturesque castle on the hill and the modern Nove Most with it's UFO restaurant high above. The old town is what I fell in love with though. Sadly, the Soviets destroyed ...
Bratislava comes off as a poor man's Budapest at first, but it has a lot of charm and is very manageable. It was my last stop on a tiring week-long trip, so I didn't pay as much attention to it as I should have. The old town is very pretty and has silly statues scatterred throughout it. The people I met were very friendly. The city is very ...
