Awesome place. The whole journey from Cuzco to Machu Picchu was great. I felt like we were in a National Geographic adventure. THe train ride, the views the people. I'd highly recommend it to anyone wanting to see something that is so inspiring. When you see it, you will know why it made one of the 7 wonders.

I went to Peru in 2003. I loved this place. I still do not understand how they made such enormous structure. It is wonderful. Very interesting with an amazing history. The view from the top is unexplicable! The people are so nice and their food.. Extremely tasty. It was a incomparable experience.

  • Mystical Wonderland
    By RonM, 02/23/06
Macchu Picchu is absolutely one of the coolest places on this planet of ours! It must be experienced in person, and although a bit difficult to get to it is way worth the effort and costs. Take the scenic way through the "Valle Sagrado" (Sacred Valley) and enjoy the friendly and humble people, and the incredible beauty and sites of Peru.

One of the most popular archeological sites of the world, and therefore the most visited attraction in Peru.

The Citadel of Machu Picchu (in Quechua, an Andean language, 'Old Mountain') is known throughout the world for its amazing ruins and its unusual location on a high mountain overlooking the mighty currents of the Urubamba river. ...

  • Best time to go
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/05
I loved the little town of Aguas Calientes, also called Macchu Pichu Pueblo. Although it's only industry is tourism, it is very unspoiled, with an open handicraft market, charming small restaurants and shops. While you go about your tourist activities, you can also see the life of this small town go on around you and get a feel for the people ...

  • Mysterious Adventure Awaits
    By Zorro, 10/07/05
Machu Picchu is one of the most fascinating and mysterious ruins in South America. It's hidden in the high slopes of the Andes, and the only two ways to get there are by rail (PeruRail) or by hiking the Incan Trail. Being on a time schedule, I took the train, which surpassed 14,000 feet in the mountains at one point. The high altitude brings ...

  • Stay in Aguascalientes and get an early start
    By james, 09/29/05
Stay in Aguascalientes a small town at the foothills of Machu Piccu. There are spectacular views especially from the top of this terraced city and the Urubamba river roars at the base on its way to the Amazon. Lodging is available from inexpensive to luxurious. With no reservation, we were able to find a large, private room with basic amenities ...

  • Machu Picchu - A Must See
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/05
The most impressive hike ever! If you're planning to take a bus, however, you might reconsider after approximately 30 minute harrowing ride on one-way, unpaved, no guard-rails, but still two buses going opposite directions at full speeds. Besides that, you'll have a great time. Be sure to get there hungry, because the buffet is spectacular!
