  • Purse snatched Salchicheria Alemana Restaurant
    By brian, 01/18/09
Employee-based purse snatching ring at this restaurant at 137 San Francisco near Plaza de Armas. One employee who was confronted acknowledged role in our crime but later withdrew information when police arrived. Management admits many thefts in restaurant (in fact we talked to someone today where a similar event occurred 1 year ago in the same place we were sitting). Don't be a victim, eat somewhere else.

  • Great city, great people
    By Andy, 02/18/07
Arequipa is one of those places were you would like to spent all your life. I highly recommend it, especially at the end of the year, from October to November. Yo can take a city tour at Plaza De Armas, and they will take you to some cultural and interesting places around. I really enjoyed Santa Teresa's Museum, the food is amazing, and the people is very friendly. Go to Arequipa!

  • Arequipa Republic is the best part of Peru!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/06
Arequipa is a bit farther to the south of both Lima and Cusco but it has a much richer feel than the narrow, crowded streets of Cusco where being accosted for money and shoeshines was a constant. It doesn't have Lima's reputation for being unsafe for travelers.

Arequipa is a colorful place full of rich culture and wonderful food. I ...

Sparkling in the sun, Arequipa is called the 'White City' because of the sillar, the white volcanic stone which renders the style of a building both modern as well as Spanish colonial.

Peru’s second largest city (pop. 635 000) is surrounded by towering mountains—including the 19 089-ft/5820-m volcano El Misti. The city itself is the ...

  • It's a great place to visit!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/23/05
I loved the city, it's an antique, colonial city. Beautiful houses to visit, beautiful churches too, the weather is nice. The city has many interesting places to vist like: Monasterio de Santa Catalina, La campina arequipena, downtown, ec. It is also very cheap!
