Employee-based purse snatching ring at this restaurant at 137 San Francisco near Plaza de Armas. One employee who was confronted acknowledged role in our crime but later withdrew information when police arrived. Management admits many thefts in restaurant (in fact we talked to someone today where a similar event occurred 1 year ago in the same place we were sitting). Don't be a victim, eat somewhere else.
Arequipa is one of those places were you would like to spent all your life. I highly recommend it, especially at the end of the year, from October to November. Yo can take a city tour at Plaza De Armas, and they will take you to some cultural and interesting places around. I really enjoyed Santa Teresa's Museum, the food is amazing, and the people is very friendly. Go to Arequipa!
Arequipa is a bit farther to the south of both Lima and Cusco but it has a much richer feel than the narrow, crowded streets of Cusco where being accosted for money and shoeshines was a constant. It doesn't have Lima's reputation for being unsafe for travelers.

Its a beautiful place, with lots of things to do, cañoñ del colca, convento de santa catalina, el molino de sabandia, etc... friendly people and amazing landscape.
