The crime rate in Port Moresby is exceptionally high,You cannot go walking around during the day and a stroll at night could be deadly. Some of the resorts in Madang are nice, an expedition up the Sepic River was interesting but never leave anything lying around. Have all your shots, bring doxycycline for malaria and do not drink anything that isn't in a sealed bottle...check the seal.

i'lve lived in Port Moresby for 16yrs... it was the best time of my life... it can be dangerous so the best thing to do is be down to earth & know the ppl well. i walked around at both day & night -i had no problems at all... great views, classy hotels, rich culture, helpful ppl, fab nightlife & ofcourse known for being the most diverse country in the world! u can never find another country as good as that.. png is the best...

I don't really like the city. It is dirty and ugly. It is not a safe place to walk around freely. Public transportation service is very poor. There is nothing much to see in Port Moresby.

However, Port Moresby has some of the best nightclubs in the world. I'd rather party in Port Moresby than in Australia. Best place for a partygoer (eventhough it is not save to walk around alone at night).

I found Port Moresby to be the most dangerous city I have ever visited. Do not venture on foot anywhere without a guide. Make sure the guide that you take is hotel-accredited.
