  • Wonderful Place!
    By YV, 01/03/07
This is a wonderful place to visit, but the tour groups that take you there are terrible. They are inefficient and waste a lot of time trying to get you to buy souvenirs. We booked our tour from Translamex. You should bargain as much as possible when buying day tours, because their information is very misleading. First they tell you that they will ...

  • Can't climb Chicen Itza anymore
    By Rachel, 06/02/06
We just returned from a trip to Mexico and were looking forward to climbing the main pyramid at Chichen Itza; however, on the bus ride there, the tour guide informed us that you can no longer climb the pyramid because the steps were being worn away from so much climbing. We were disappointed, but the trip was still interesting. We heard about how ...

  • The 8th Wonder
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/06
A wonderful experience for any age. You can see much of the mayan culture and sights. Also, it has lots of history in it's stones, you can count it as school for children. Pronounced "Chee-chin Eee-tzaa" not
"chicken itz a". There are a few Senotes nearby which you can visit while you're in town. The actual town in ...

  • Most memorable vacation!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/05
This is a place from the Mayan past, with many intact temples and pyramids to climb inside and upon, in the midst of a jungle. We also swam in an underground grotto of cool water nearby. Bring your camera and wear your sneakers for an awesome adventure! It can get very hot, so you'll need a hat and lots of water.

  • Outstanding!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/05
I loved Chichen Itza. It isn't easy to get to, was oppressively hot and climbing the pyramid was not a safe thing to do, but it's a place everyone should visit. The Mayan history is so interesting. And you can swim in a sink hole not far from the area. A very interesting place...the teenagers even enjoyed it!

  • great place
    By alan, 07/27/05
We drove there from PDC. It takes a couple of hours but is a very interesting drive. You can go north to Cancun then West or down to the road that goes straight through the jungle. We went that way. A little bit scary, but neat to see the places along the way. Not hard to find CI. You can get a guide there. We shared with an other couple so it ...

  • As seen on Discovery Channel
    By Bryan, 07/07/05
I love looking at archeological sites, looking at history, being on locations I've seen on TV. I have to admit though that I've seen ruins on Discovery Channel often enough that when I went to this place it was anti-climatic. I mean it was really neat. I took over 100 pictures. I think that high-def TV channels have just done a good ...

  • i've been there
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/05
It was fascinating to see such ancient ruines that had been built so long ago without modern day tools was amazing. The stories behind them were interesting but seemed mostly about making human sacrifices but that was their beleifs I suppose. the weather may have been hot but being able to be in a place with such a history made it bearable. It was great.
