I have found the best thing to do when visiting San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico is to rent a private home or condo. I use Barb at Casa de Amigos and she finds us a place for 2 or a villa for 10. We can dine in or go out to one of the many local restaurants, have a relaxing drink on our own balcony overlooking the sea, or just sleep after a day of diving. My wife and I loved San Carlos. It is gorgeous, unspoiled, and has fantastic snorkeling. We highly recommend swimming with the Sea Lions. My wife actually touched one of the female Sea Lions (they get that close!) The males stay back and you should stay away from them.
