My wife and I just returned from Dreams Tulum and it was AMAZING!!! The service and hospitality at the resort was excellent and being that it was in the off-season made it even better because it wasn't too crowded and the weather was still great.
We were worried before we left because there was a 30-40% chance of rain for all five days we ...
I had been down to the Riviera Maya back in 2004, and convinced my now-wife that we should go there for our honeymoon. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort (now called Dreams) and got pampered. We rented a car at the resort and drove to Chichen Itza and Coba (you MUST see these ruins... not commercialized) in one day. Riding a bike through a jungle ...

Boring
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/21/08
Boring place. Ruins are really boring. The beach was rainy and to many rocks an coral. Never go to Tulum it is an awful tourist place with good food.
I loved Tulum. Being used to staying in fine hotels and resorts, I deceided to take a more rustic and laidback lifestyle on this vacation. My husband and I stayed in Luna Maya on the beach in Tulum (past the mega-resorts). It was more rustic then I expected but I found myself LOVING the relaxed spirit immediately. The hacienda had the bare ...
What's not to love? Ancient Mayan ruins, a perfect beach, steeped in history and mystery, best value in a get-away. Quiet, peaceful and serene. Xel-Ha (pronounced shell-ha) is a delight. It's mother nature's own waterworld. Crystal clear waters and rivers and cenotes (springs). Dozens of different ways to experience it all. Breathtaking experiences swimming with colorful, LARGE fish. A must-see for the entire family.

What a great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/06
Tulum continues to e a bucolic little town in the Mayan Riviera (yeah!). Compared with the busy, crowded Cancun and Playa del Carmen, it was a breath of fresh air. We were unpleasantly surprised by the options by the beach (however beautiful, but expensive and rustic at best - no A/C in very very hot and humid weather), and ended up with plan B - a little Posada in downtown called Luna Sur - bright and clean and friendly. A must in Tulum!

great on a cool day
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/06
Most of the tour of the pyramids(etc) is in the direct sunlight and so on a hot day be prepared with a hat, suntan lotion and water. The structures were amazing, the guides are extremely knowledgable, and the water view is one of a kind. A great place for the novice photographer to get great shots.
If your looking for the hike in the heat and a long bus ride go to Chitchen Itza. If you want Mayan ruins and a beatiful beach all in one, this is the spot for you. These Mayans had the right idea. Why not build your city right on the water. Considering the heat of the Yucatan area these were the ruins for me. The main temple is built right on the ...

A gem in Tulum
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/06
We have traveled for the past decade to the Yucatan, and have seen this truly magical little town of Tulum undergo its own slow metamorphosis. In downtown Tulum, we discovered a little jewel of a Hotel, the Posada Luna del Sur, which we used as our base of operation while breathing the richness of the culture, the awe-inspiring achievements of ...
Only in dreams have I ever imagined the beauty of this place. It is amazing. Albeit my husband was suffering from sun poisining at the time of our excursion to Tulum ruins and xel-ha and it is a hike in the extreme humidity and heat to the actual site, we both have only fantastic memories of the magical place. The cenotes, the ruins themselves (of ...
