If you don't want the touristy, americanized feel of cancun, Isla Mujeres is an enchanting little island that is laid back and beautiful. We stayed at Cabanas Maria del Mar which is just a brief walk to the main areas. It's quaint, economical and lovely. Take the virtual tour. One of the greatest highlights was swimming with the whale ...
My husband & I just returned f/ 9 days at Avalon Reef on Isla Mujeres. It was our honeymoon-We really enjoyed ourselves. We still ate at several different locations on the island. All had amazing food. You can use US money there also. Do not use american coins though. Be ready for eating outdoors with no air conditioning. All the restaurants ...
We chartered a boat and guide. The old man's grandson had a spear with long rubberband like thing attached and would spear fish, i assume for tourists. It was awsome snorkeling all the different reefs and just kicking back relaxing. I would tell everybody to definitly go there.
I have been vacationing on Isla Mujeres for 14 years now and I consider it my second home. I just returned from a Christmas trip and found 2 tourist traps that I really want to warn any other folks from getting caught up in. First there is El Garrafon. This is a snorkeling place foremost. There is also a zipline that goes out into the ocean. ...
My girlfriends and I took a day trip to the island. The boat trip was an 'experience' LOL! The shopping was great, with no pressure! And we found this fabulous hotel with an indoor courtyard that served THE best pizza, yes, pizza, I've ever had. The owner of the hotel showed us around. The rooms were lovely with tile flooring and clawfoot tubs. I wish we'd had time to stay a nite there. Just lovely.
The first time I went out of the US was March of this year! ... I went to Cancun with family. And it was nice. I had hoped for more. My grandma wanted us to go to Isla Mujeres... and I was not up for it at all, but went anyways... and I LOVED IT! When i got there, I didnt want to leave! Playa Norte is amazing...and i loved sunset gril... yummy ...
We have been traveling to Isla Mujeres for 10 years and can't wait for our next trip. Its a great place to lay on the beach at Playa Norte, get some great food at one of the many local restaurants, or stay at a nice budget minded hotel only a couple blocks from the beach. Our favorite is is the Francis Arlene, as it is close to the beach and ...
We were there for my daugter's wedding! I found this to be a place to return to. It is charming,an so relaxing. The islander's are helpful and undersand the visitors quite well. The only problem we had was the misleading of my daughter's wedding coordinator....if anyone out there is planning a destination wedding.......please question me as to details on how we were taken by this women. We would NOT recommend her to anyone.
i absolutely adored isla mujeres- some of my favorite memories from our trip to the riviera maya were made here. it's fairly easily accessed from puerto juarez, just to the north of cancun, and it's definitely worth the trip! however, i would recommend staying for a night or two to get a fuller view of the place. we stayed halfway down ...
