We took my two young daughters with me. My husband is Jordanian so we got the best deals. We went in spring 2006 and it was already hot there. We spent hours and hours climbing to the cerimonial place (so not worth it) whereas it would have been much better to have skipped it and gone on to see as much as we could. Colors are amazing, carvings unbelieveable! People were very nice to us too... We paid top dinar for drinks... so bring cash.

Petra is a must see , it is spectacular. Plan to hike. Make sure you have good comfortable shoes, socks etc.. Bring a mini first aid kit, with special emphasis on possible blisters. You can see a good portion of Petra using horse and cart but the hikes up are well worth it for the physically able. You cannot see all of Petra in one day, a plan ...

Excited about going back in a couple of weeks.

Petra is very exciting. It is unbelievable that such a place exists. How they could do this is beyond me. This will be my 3rd or 4th visit. Our tour group, led by my brother, Rev. Vernon Lee likes to visit Petra.

At first I had a guild because the price was too much (21 Dinars: nearly 40 CAD), later I got on a horse and travelled 1.5 km along a sandy path to get to the mountains, from their and on we started ...

The Red-Rose City in Eastern Clime
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/20/05
One of my favorite places in the world...Petra is surreal being completely carved out of red-colored sandstone. Can feel very lonely in the nether regions of the valley. Lots of hiking trails to explore. Had tea with a bedouin in a cave. Be sure to visit The Monestary (Al Deir) via donkey or on foot - be careful if you decide to climb to the top of ...

worth seeing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/05
it looks unreal because its almost impossible to imagin how much time, effort n skill went into the creations of the stone city. my tip is take a horse or donkey ride as its much better to enjoy the sites without being exausted (fair price 2JDs for the ride from entrance to Khazneh's treasury).defintely worth the 8hrs travelling there n back from amman
