I lived in Nagoya for nearly 3 years, and compared to other Japanese cities, it is quite conservative and boring. Sure, the shopping is good, and it has a good central location, but I think Osaka is way better for young people. Maybe older people (I'm 30) would like Nagoya better because it's kind of slow and conservative. My wife and I ...

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/06
Clean, Safe, Fun, Old, New, Nightlife, Parks, Shopping, Budget, the best place to base your adventures in Japan. I love it here. What a peaceful and great country. Close to kyoto and many other great places. Not to much tourist so much cheaper that toyko. The food is unreal. Hiking, Surfing, Snowboarding,Baseball,Golf.Everthing in an hour or two!

Biggest city you never heard of
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/06
Most people have never heard of Nagoya and that is strange. It's home to Toyota and everyone knows that. It's also the 4th largest city in Japan.
I have been living in Nagoya for the past 6 months. Whenever I leave to go visit another city I wonder why I left. It has everything you really need in Japan on a workable scale. Great ...
Located roughly in the center of Japan, Nagoya is an important crossroads for transportation. Nagoya Castle, known for the pair of golden dolphins on its roof, was built approximately four hundred years ago. Following the development of the castle town, Nagoya grew into a metropolis as commerce and industry prospered and culture flourished. The ...

A Great Place to Live
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/05
My wife and I lived in Nagoya for a year in 2000/2001. Incredibly clean, safe, quiet and fun city to live in. Stayed in the both the Nagoya Hilton and Marriott. Both a very good hotels. Stayed a couple of time in the Nagoya Castle Hotel, very disappointing for a Westin (at that time) property. We miss it and the many lovely evening walks. Great transportation system.
