I have been living here ina Italy for 2 years now. And one of my favorite places is Verona. It is touristy in a pleasant sence.
Verona Does have Romeo and Juilets City homes. But the their Castles reside in Monteccio about 15 min away by car.
Verona has a couple of other Castles, Great sidewalk cafes.And you'll be sure to find Romeo and Juilet souvenirs.
It's just a really great place to just relax and watch the people.

Verona was very quaint and a nice city to explore a bit for an afternoon. It's probably not somewhere you'd need to spend more than a day in to see.

I liked the atmosphere in the night, it is very romantic n quiet.Lot of place where u can have a stroll in the evening.There are many place around that worth to be visited too.

I traveled to Verona as a day trip from Venice last Janauary for my birthday. What an amazing place to celebrate! We took the train from Venice and then walked the city. Lived there for over 4 years (1960-64). Have been back several times since. Visit in the spring, fall or summer. It is very close to Lago di Garda for boating, fishing or swimming. It also right in the heart of excellant wine country (Soave, Valpolivella, Bardolino). Not as comercialized as Rome.

Traveled with an 8 month old baby & friends with two young children in March 2001! A great city! Public toliets are a must! Oh, so very different than in the U.S.A.! The history and Art there are amazing! The Arena is awesome! Take as many tours of places to get the history as possible! Most do not speak English! Hit the side streets & eat ...

I absolutely adored Verona. It is a beautiful city located on the banks of the Adige river. If you love Romeo and Juliet, you'll love Verona. The city is easy to navigate on foot and it's worth the walk. You'll see everything. My favorite part of Verona was the roman theater and the castle.

This was the most romantic place. Shakespeare knew what he was talking about! I can't imagine a better place to have proposed to my new fiancee!

Verona is the quintisential Italian city. Smaller than most but full of fantastic sights, wonderful restaurants and friendly people. There is nothing to compare with sitting in the Piazza Erbe with a fine Cognac and a Cappucino, just watching the people go by.
