Sorrento is a beautiful and centrally located part of Italy for people who want to get to Capri, Amalfi Coast, etc. We wound up staying around the town for much of our time there and loved the laid back atmosphere and sthe breathtaking views. Note, we also did day trips to Positano (amazing, but still a rocky beach), Capri and Pompeii (somebody ...

Sorrento is a great place . . . but
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/07
Just returned from Sorrento. The best things are the beautiful views of the Bay of Naples, the central location to other Amalfi coast towns such as Positano (must see!), and also to Capri and Pompeii ruins. The food is also great there and there are lots of nice hotels. The worst things are the absolutely horrendous traffic and pollution (!) in ...
Sorrento is a beautiful, simple, elegant coastal town. If you don't like the usual hectic crowded cities such as Rome, Milan, etc., then Sorrento is the place for you. Stayed at the Hotel Michelangelo, and right next to the hotel is the best italian pottery shop. Would rather stay in Sorrento than Capri! Theres just something in Sorrento that gets you hooked. Def cleaner than the Jersey Shore!keke

Girdinello best italian restaurant in the city!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/06
If you want to try typical home made gnoccis or the real pizza napolitana, try the Giardinello Restaurant!! Located just in the center of the villa, the prices are good ante the wine of the house is the best company for your fetuccinis or rissottos.
Sorrento is a wonderful place to stay if you are traveling about the amalfi coastline. It abounds in restaurants, hotels, shopping and public access to transportation like trains and busses. We fell in love with sorrento and definitely would return. You can catch a ferry to capri also. We stayed at the Antique Mura for 14 nights. It is centrally located on the tasso piazza
Sorrento is beautiful. We made the mistake of going though one of those people at the Naples train station to book our hotel. DO NOT stay the Hotel Il Faro. It is right on the coast. Although it is very convenient (walking distance to the boats) it is a crappy place to stay.
Take the boat to and from Naples, not the train. The train takes ...
Sorrento is absolutely gorgeous!! This would be a great place to retire. We actually stayed at the Crowne PLaza and the view was divine! I can't anything more about it, the view was tremendous if you're in Naples, make sure you visit Sorrento...
I loved the smaller town of Sorrento. We shopped with arms so full of inlaid wood- pictures, tea carts, photo albums, tables, wonderful tapestries, and cameos of all sorts. Friendly town with great wine and food. You can go for a day or a weekend and take your time!
its sooo beautiful i wish i could live there! AMAZING bay to go cliff diving..

Worst Beach Ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/05
We booked 4 days in this city because we wanted to spend part of our European vacation in a beautiful beach town. Much to our dismay, the people were rude, the small, crowded beaches consisted of cigarette butts and garbage, and everything in the town was overpriced.
Unless you are rich and have the luxery of buying yourself a good time such ...
