The history of Siena has been made on the Piazza del Campo, or better, 'il Campo', as the Sienese call it. Here the Sienese organised their spectacular and terrible 'games', later replaced by the Palio, where they celebrated and played games of risk (il Campo was the only place where the games were allowed). The market also used to ...

Must See Siena!
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 06/24/07
Siena was more than I imagined. I would recommend 1 day only in Florence, and the rest in Siena. It's what you imagine Tuscany to be, very picturesque. A restaurant called San Guisseppe is the most romantic place I think I've ever been. I hope to return to Siena soon!

Italy's ancient Glory
By doeeyedwonder, 09/02/06
The place was beautifully kept, cobblestones swept, madonna art everywhere, choirs singing in the night breeze, wide sqaures to just sit and marvel at ancient architectural beauty. Problem was that it was mi first time in Europe and I didnt equate old with "developed" world...I went away confused but thoughtfull!

By A Yahoo! Contributer, 08/23/06
Journeying on to Florence through the Tuscan countryside: Lucca, Pisa, Siena, Arezzo and other delightful towns dot the road to Pisa where who are guested of the Agostini family Villa di Corliano. The family - and 2 resident ghosts - still welcome guest at the Villa, much as it they were at the height of its fame in the 1770

Ho Lasciato il cuore mio in SIENA (I left my heart in Siena)
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 01/11/06
When people ask me how my study abroad trip was to Italy... I can do nothing but give a deep and passionate, longing sigh for the medieval city that stole my heart... How I STILL miss it to this day.. I went to Siena to study for a month with my University. I'm 20 years old, but leaving that picturesque place I cried and cried like a two year ...

I live in siena
By mgl_user_2361_10, 12/05/05
I lived in Siena for 3 months during a Study Abroad program! It's my favorite place in ITaly.... It feels a lot like time warp with the Medieval structure of the city! Attend mass at the Duomo and go see Sain Catherine's head! Great people who are so passionate about the Palio!

back in time
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 08/14/05
This was my second time in Siena. After being here as a student for six weeks, the four days we had for vacation were not enough. I must say some things have changed from seven years ago. There are more tourists and many more English speaking folk. Also I was shocked that there was a fee, a line, and a large glass divider to get into the Duomo. ...

Lived In Siena..... Can't wait to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 02/21/05
I had the opportunity to live in Siena through my study abroad program. Siena is the most amazing little city I have ever seen. After traveling throughout Italy, it remains my favorite. I love the warmness of the people, the closeness of the community, and all the little secrets within Siena; Many think of Siena as a little city, but Siena is full ...
