San Gimignano was my favorite place that we went on our 12 day cruise. The atmosphere was just amazing and everything that I pictured the Tuscan region to be. I can not wait to return and spend some more time there.

What to see after Siena? San Gimignano of course…
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/24/07
San Gimignano rises on a hill (334m high) dominating the Elsa Valley with its towers. Once the seat of a small Etruscan village of the Hellenistic period (200-300 BC) it began its life as a town in the 10th century taking its name from the Holy Bishop of Modena, St. Gimignano, who is said to have saved the village from the barbarian hordes. A quaint Italian City!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/07
San Gimignano is probably one of the most preserved medeival cities in Italy yet with modern shops and eateries. Upon entering the city, there is a feeling that you've gone back in time as the buildings are very old and the one main street is cobblestoned. From what I observed, this one street is for pedestrian traffic only, therefore, there ...
This little town is netled in the Tuscan countryside, and just driving there is a wonderful experience. The town itself is neat and well maintained.
The towers themselves are amazing architecture, and the history seems to be the essence of the Italian Renassance.
Highly recommended that anyone traveling through Tuscany stop and visit here!

Tuscan Country at Its Best

beautiful place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/15/05
This fantastic "medieval manhattan" was one of the highlights of my 2004 Italy trip. Great food, fantastic views of the Tuscan countryside, and some of the best gelato in Italy. Try to stay there overnight so you can be there in the early morning before the tour buses arrive.

Visiting San Gimignano is like stepping back in time
Walking the narrow streets of San Gimignano makes you feel like you are in a vibrant Medieval Village. The city is walled and when you walk through the main doorway it feels like you have entered another world. The streets are full of travelers shopping for local specialties, like wine, olive oil, and glass decorations, and you can just picture ...

I enjoyed the shopping of this adorable little area of Tuscany that I "tumbled upon" on a recent visit to Italy. It was a beautiful place.
