A far quieter place compared to Jogja. The kraton has more exhibits and though they are Muslims we could see Hindu offerings in the compound. I've been to many places but no town is like Solo! Great food, and you can find it anywhere along the street (especially at night). At Jalan Sutan Syahrir: Ayam Widuran, Pia Pia Jamur, Nini Thowong, etc.
At Jalan Urip Sumoharjo: Orion, Timlo Sastro, Dika cafe.
At Keprabon: Nasi Liwet and ginger soup.
And still many places I can't mention ...
