Haitian-American husband

You must be kidding. You will be lucky just to be robbed. This place is death!
There are great people and wonderful beaches within reach of the city but the political climate has destroyed the peace that once characterized the Haitian half of Hispaniola. It is a long way from being the "jewel of the Carribean" these days.
The ...

I love haiti, i love the people. There is no way, Haiti should be a travel destination for anyone, let alone young children. Haiti is a very corrupt, 3rd world country, where people should only go seeking to work, or to minister to the lost. Haiti is not a country to go for an educational "visit". There are extreme dangers, to your safety, your health, and your spiritual well being.....

I went to PAP, Haiti when I was 10 when everything was much better then it is now.
But last summer, I went to the countryside to Ferrier and Terrier Rouge where life is more calm then that of Port Au Prince. I had my own worries since it was the first time as an "adult" ...

How was Port-auPrice, Haiti
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/28/05
This is a welcoming caraibean country. They people are very friendly and welcoming. Although one needs to pick a safe neighborhood like Petionville, Kenskoff. Avoid downtown for that is where the insecurity reside. the periphery of the city is somewhat safe to circulate by cars. There are many places to visit: Fort Saint Jacques, the national ...

Not a tourist destination
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/05
P-a-P should definitely not be a tourist destination featured on Yahoo travel. I travelled there for a week with Haitians on a medical mission, this was three years ago before the more recent instability. Haiti is desperately poor. Without the escort of native Haitians our trip would have been frought with danger. The rule of law is weak at best. ...
This is a place rich in culture. The carnaval is a must when visiting in Feburary. Voudou ceremonies are educational with artwork like no other places. The people are wonderful. The marketplaces full of collor.
When we stepped out of the airplane, down the runway mobile stairway, and onto the hot pavement, I knew we were in for a long trip. Our intentions on visiting Haiti were to provide free-labor to a missionary who needed assistance and experience to help him finish a school he was starting. While we were down there, we were able to work with the ...
