Indigenous culture holds strong...Santa Catarina and San Antonio Palopo are two beautiful villages nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Atitlán near Panajachel. They have not been so thoroughly Americanized as many other villages around the lake, however, and provide a wonderful opportunity to see the indigenous culture of Lake Atitlán.
