Small but charming, protected from the hords of tourists that invade parts of Greece. Friendly people and the town looks stranded between eastern and western world and uncapable of deciding where to go. The lake and island are also nice. It might be hard to get someone that speaks english but besides that I liked it.

The lake is majestic..the old castle next to it..the restaurants n cafes..the lil narrow roads..the shops ..the air the sky..everythn is perfect in this town..
Dont miss to visit the vrelli's museum too and ofcourse the island in the lake is perfect for a local lunch ..

There is only one city that combines everything, Ioannina. Not too large and still big to untertake everything as many activities you want. The night life is remarkable, despite the fact that you don't get to see any celebtities, like in New York or Paris for example. The people are really open minded and friendly.

Ioannina has a spectacularly beautiful old fortified castle from the Ottoman days of Ali Pasha (Lord Bryon's friend)and has examples of Byzantine history that have been either ruined or eclipsed in other parts of Greece. The city rises from the shores of Lake Ioannina, where vendors, restaurants, and lake tour operators make their homes, and the mountains that ring this small valley create astonihing scenery.
